Dark Mother-of-Pearl Knife Wing Necklace by Troy Sice - Zuni Fetish Jewelry

An iridescent dark mother-of-pearl Knife Wing pendant necklace carved & strung up with Sleeping Beauty turquoise tear drop shaped beads that gradually get smaller at the top with apatite beads found near the hook clasp. Troy Sice delivered this magnificent necklace to Sunshine Studio in April of 2019. The Knife Wing wears his tablita shaped headdress which symbolizes a cumulonimbus rain cloud. Troy has incised on the tablilta a line that forms a point & inlaid it with lapis; highlighting the stones used on each tier of the cloud-like stair-steps, utilizing malachite, lapis, turquoise & Mediterranean coral with one sugilite bead inlaid under the lapis inlaid point. The Knife Wing has horizontal slit style penn shell inlaid eyes, a pin point sugilite dot inlaid mouth and wears a 4 strand Mediterranean coral 38 dot necklace. His wings are outstretched and his tail appears between his legs creating a very pleasing composition. There are geometrical designs incised on the kilt - inlaid with lapis & pipestone with Sleeping Beauty Mine dots inlaid around the edge. The sash has incised lines inlaid with pipestone with turquoise and malachite dot embellishments. This is outstanding and harkens back to the necklaces made by Troy's grandfather; George H. CheeChee.
