Ask for an independent laboratory report (e.g., GIA, GRS, AGL, IGI). For this lot, “No treatment” is declared, so the report should confirm: species (beryl/corundum), natural origin, and no indications of treatment. Cross-check weights (0.99 ct, 1.26 ct, 0.99 ct), dimensions, and shapes against the lab document. Inspect with a 10× loupe for natural inclusions consistent with origin, and confirm refractive index and specific gravity if you have access to gem-testing tools. Are loose gemstones a better investment compared to set jewelry? Often, yes—loose stones avoid mounting costs and can be re-graded or traded more easily. Untreated stones (like this lot) generally retain stronger demand. However, value depends on quality factors (color, clarity, cut, carat, origin) and market timing. Keep original lab reports, invoices, and clear photos for provenance. What factors should I consider when buying loose gemstones? Color: Saturation and hue (light green emerald; Kashmir-type red ruby; Ceylon blue sapphire). Clarity: From included to eye-clean—confirm with magnification and lab notes. Cut & Shape: Oval and step-cushion mixed; check face-up brightness and symmetry. Carat & Dimensions: Verify 0.99/1.26/0.99 ct and listed mm sizes against a scale/caliper. Treatment: Prefer untreated when possible—this lot is untreated. Origin: Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka—origin can influence desirability. Documentation: Request an independent lab report and a detailed invoice. How can I be sure of the quality and treatments on loose rubies, emeralds, or sapphires? Quality and treatment status should be stated on a recognized lab report. For this set, expect the report to state “No treatment” and to document clarity characteristics appropriate to each species. Review the stone in neutral daylight, compare color against standard references, and confirm that the cut maximizes brightness without excess windowing or weight retention. Where is the best place to buy loose gemstones online safely? Choose vendors who provide independent lab reports and clear return policies. Look for full disclosures (untreated status, origins: Pakistan/Afghanistan/Sri Lanka, exact weights and dimensions). Prefer listings with macro photos and videos under neutral light and matching the specs above (3.2 ct total; one piece per stone). Verify customer reviews, business information, and secure checkout.
