Hand Forged from 52100 High Carbon Steel Every Steelport knife is forged from premium 52100 carbon steel, one of the most respected steels used in handmade chef knives. Known for its excellent toughness, outstanding edge retention, and ability to take an incredibly fine edge, 52100 steel has long been favored by custom knife makers. Unlike mass-produced stainless steel knives, this high carbon steel develops a natural patina over time that helps protect the blade while reflecting years of use. Handcrafted in Portland, Oregon Steelport Knife Co. builds every knife in Portland, Oregon using traditional American manufacturing techniques. Each blade is individually forged, ground, heat treated, sharpened, assembled, and finished by skilled craftsmen instead of being stamped on an assembly line. The result is a handmade kitchen knife set that delivers exceptional performance while supporting American manufacturing. Carbon Steel Knife Care Because these knives are made from high carbon steel, they should be hand washed, dried immediately after use, and occasionally treated with food-safe mineral oil. As the blade ages, it will naturally develop a protective patina that many chefs value for both its appearance and added corrosion resistance. Proper care helps preserve the exceptional cutting performance these handcrafted knives are known for. Product Specifications Brand: Steelport Knife Co.
