#3 CERTIFIED DEAD (Hardcover)

A kosher inspector doesn’t come home one night. By morning, his wife is certain something is wrong. The police aren’t convinced. He hasn’t been gone long enough. There’s no sign of violence. Officially, there’s nothing to investigate. That’s when his wife turns to Jake Cooper. Not a cop. Not licensed. But trained by a retired detective and trusted as the Jewish community’s internal investigator, Jake is often called when concerns don’t yet meet the legal threshold—but feel far more serious. As Jake retraces the inspector’s final hours, he uncovers strained business relationships, and private confrontations. The man’s methods had quietly damaged reputations—and livelihoods. Then the inspector’s body is found. What began as a quiet disappearance becomes a confirmed homicide. Now the police are fully involved—but Jake is already ahead, tracing the damaged reputations, private confrontations, and financial pressure the inspector left behind. The more he uncovers, the clearer it becomes: this wasn’t a random act. Someone saw an opportunity. Someone believed the risk was worth it. This is a gripping crime thriller featuring an intellectual investigator, layered deception, and a high-stakes murder set inside a closed world where power and trust collide. Perfect for readers of investigative crime fiction, parallel police and private investigations, and smart, character-driven suspense.
