bhn 2022 Chardonnay

A cellar-worthy collector's Chardonnay at the intersection of fine table wine and art. Our 2022 vintage is a wine of rare aromatic complexity and texture, with remarkable body, richness, and saline grip.  Eye: Gold-amber hue with a slight natural haze, typical of extended skin contact. Deep and radiant in the glass. Nose: A meditative, medium-intensity bouquet layered with honey, barley tea, chamomile, and nougat. Aromatic complexity unfolds with candied orange peel, ginger, straw, quince, soy sauce, and sesame crackers, transitioning into notes of honeycomb, lemon marmalade, and citrus zest. Distinct umami character. Palate: Full-bodied with a dense, layered texture. Plush, waxy mouthfeel, cut by saline minerality and subtle grip. Flavors of toffee, molasses, honey, hay, and straw dominate the mid-palate, evolving into notes of lion's mane mushroom, chalk, quince, pink grapefruit, candied lemon, and chamomile. The finish is persistent, with citrus oils and savory depth. Our 2022 Chardonnay is farmed using organic practices, and contains no additions aside from minimal sulfur at bottling. Our aging process uses clay amphorae rather than wooden casks, resulting in very rich and mineral expressions from grape to glass. This vintage has an ABV of 17.1%.
