2017 Maruszczyk Frog Omega 5a

Maruszcsyk Instruments are made in Poland, where there is a tradition of instrument-building tracing back to violinmakers centuries ago. Harnessing the precision and craftsmanship developed over generations, Maruszczyk builds fully-modern instruments with cutting edge features and components. Maruszczyk are designed to deliver strong results for modern-day musicians who need hard-working instruments.  The Maruszczyk Frog was designed to be a sleek, comfortable instrument that is easy to pick up and start creating immediately. This Frog Omega 5a was made in 2017, and it features a five-string neck that is five-ply hard rock maple, built for stability and reliability. The streamlined neck joint makes the bass feel like it's all one piece, but this Frog Omega has a Mahogany body with a Wenge top. The workmanship is impressive, and the woods look gorgeous how they are precisely carved into the unique Frog shape. The solid-wood construction provides resonance and sustain without sacrificing clarity and definition.  This 2017 Frog Omega 5a weighs in at 9 lbs 11.4 oz, and it has a long 34" scale length. While some Maruszczyk basses are headless, this one has a traditional headstock with black tuning machines and a zero fret for smooth tuning and precise intonation. Under the hood, it's outfitted with Delano Xtender pickups and the Delano Sonar active electronics system. The Sonar gives you a lot of flexibility—three band E with mini switches for each pickup. It's a flexible system with a lot of variability, but honestly the bass shines just the same in passive mode (the volume knob is a push pull that toggles active/passive). This 2017 Maruszczyk Frog Omega 5a shows some scuffs and signs of use, but it is in nice shape all around (see photos). There is a small scratch worth mentioning next to the decal on the headstock. There are some minor bumps around the edges, and the pickup covers show wear. The satin-finish top has been rubbed shiny from resting your thumb next to the neck pickup, and you can see the same effect on the lower bout where your arm comes across the body. The setup is absolutely dialed—low and super playable up to the 24th fret. In many ways, this Frog feels like a more ergonomic, more manageable five string. It includes its original gig bag. Killer bass!
