High Bay / Low Bay are lighting terms used to describe the correct bay lights needed for the appropriate ceiling height. Typically, High Bay Lights apply to any large area with a ceiling height greater than 20 ft. In return, Low Bay Fixtures are used in large rooms with a ceiling height between 12 and 20 feet. How many lumens do I need high bay? Ceiling Height Use a fixture rated Over 40 feet 40,000 lumens & up 30 to 40 feet 30,000 to 39,000 lumens 20 to 30 feet 20,000 to 29,000 lumens 15 to 20 feet 15,000 to 19,000 lumens How many high bay LED lights do I need? Use 100 watts High Bay lights and space them out every 8-14 feet (8 for high brightness, 14 for adequate). A 6×3 pattern for example is 18 lights for basic lighting, or go 7×3 (or 6×4/8×3 depending on wiring) for 21-24 lights to get a medium brightness level. What are LED high bay lights? LED high bay lights are specialized industrial shop lights designed to illuminate large areas with high ceilings. These high bay LED shop lights create powerful illumination at a long-range to enhance the visibility and focus light more directly than traditional incandescent fixtures. How long do high bay LED lights last? While MHs can generate about 35,000 lumens when initially installed (around 90 lumens per watt), lumen depreciation occurs quickly. A MH’s light output typically decreases by half within a couple of years. By contrast, a high-quality LED will last 50,000 hours or longer. Do LED high bay lights get hot? LED high bay lights are cold light sources, so many customers think that LED high bay lights will not be as hot as incandescent lamps. In fact, this is wrong. LED high bay lights also generate heat. How do I choose a high bay LED light? If you plan to install a High Bay LED light at the height of 10 to 15 feet then you should get lights with 10,000 to 15,000 lumens. For 15 to 20 feet, lights with 16,000 to 20,000 lumens are recommended. For the height of 25 to 35 feet, you can get lights with 33,000 lumens for the best result. Is 5000 lumens too much? Are 5000 lumens bright enough? A 5000-lumen LED bulb is a very bright light source, and if you are using it in a relatively small room, it can be very harsh. In this case, it is recommended that you use a 1000-lumen LED bulb. How far apart to space high bay LED lights? At 20 feet high you can go to 15 feet spacing for generating bright light and if you need normal light, a spacing of 18 feet should be used. At 30 feet height, you can go for 20 feet spacing between the lights in order to get a brighter light. However, for normal light, you can go for 25 feet spacing. How many high bay lights can you have on a 20 amp circuit? Technically, you can install 13 outlets or lights on a 20-amp CB, but you can only put ten lights per circuit due to the 80% rule of maximum continuous load. How many lumens do I need for a 10 foot ceiling? 1,500 – 1,700 lumens. How many lumens do I need for a 20 foot ceiling? Higher ceilings of 20 feet or more will need a higher commercial grade light bulb of about 2000 lumens or more. Can you use high bay lights in a garage? In the same way, high bay lights in the garage are enough to effectively work and illuminate the area due to their durability, quality, and brightness. High bay LED lights are much better than other conventional lighting systems because of their less watt usage but brighter property.
