What’s Inside the Coffee Kit Designed for both newcomers and seasoned home baristas, the Black Tucano Coffee Kit focuses on clarity, education, and ease. Inside, you’ll find: 250g of whole-bean Black Tucano Single-Origin Coffee (medium roast, washed Yellow Catucaí 2SL) An origin and tasting guide featuring producer, variety, process, and flavor notes A concise brewing guide for filter methods and espresso dialing-in Resealable, one-way valve packaging to preserve freshness and aroma Everything in this kit is designed to help you brew confidently and consistently, with recipes that highlight sweetness, structure, and balance. Roast and Versatility The medium roast was developed to perform across multiple brew methods. On filter brewing (V60, Kalita, batch brewer), expect clarity, a honeyed mid-palate, and a clean finish. As espresso, the coffee leans toward caramelized sugars and ripe stone fruit with a velvety texture-excellent straight or as a cappuccino where the peach and Rapadura sweetness meet milk beautifully. It’s a flexible profile that rewards exploration, revealing nuance as you dial in grind size, dose, and extraction time. Brewing Recommendations Pour-Over (V60 or Similar) Ratio: 1:16 (25 g coffee to 400 g water) Grind: Medium-fine; aim for a total brew time of 2:45–3:15 Water: 200°F (93–94°C) Method: Bloom 50 g for 35–45 seconds, then pour in two steady pulses to reach 400 g by 2:00–2:15. Swirl gently and let draw down. Expect: Bright florals, honeyed sweetness, and a clean peach finish. Batch Brewer Ratio: 1:15.5 Grind: Medium; adjust for a 4–6 minute cycle depending on your brewer Expect: Balanced cup with enhanced Rapadura-like sweetness and rounded body. French Press Ratio: 1:15 (35 g to 525 g water) Grind: Medium-coarse Steep: 4 minutes; stir, skim the crust, then steep 4 more minutes before pressing gently Expect: Lusher body, caramelized sugars, and a mellow peach note. Espresso Recipe: 18 g in → 36–40 g out in 28–32 seconds Adjust: Finer for more structure and syrup; coarser to boost clarity and florals Expect: Caramel-honey sweetness, ripe peach, and a long, clean finish-excellent straight or with milk.
