Choose from hats with ears, stripes, pompoms, topknots and more – all the techniques are included. The designs fall into 4 categories: basic simple beanies (with a pompom, a rainbow stripe, a top knot, a fair isle pattern and a bow) animal hats (fox, panda, bear) food hats (apple, watermelon, pumpkin) quirky hats (elf-style, square with tassels, bonnet, cat ears and a pixie bonnet). The book features: Clear instructions and simple patterns. As babies vary so much in size, each design can be made in three sizes: 0–6 months, 6 12 months, 12–24 months. The yarns recommended are all hypoallergenic, washable and with some elasticity, to help the hats keep their shape. The hats use relatively small amounts of yarn so are ideal for quick, portable projects. Perfect for thoughtful gifts. The book includes clear-cut depictions of basic techniques and patterns, and the author offers options that are sure to give recipients a special keepsake. There are some fun stitches too that add texture to otherwise straightforward designs. Her colorful projects also utilize tassels or playful brims for a delightful touch. She also presents fresh takes on Cabbage Patch Kids with produce-themed hats that include a design of an apple, pumpkin, and more. This is a fantastic little project book in a handy pocket-size format, ideal for knitting on the go!
