3 Week: Puppy Basics

With our Puppy Basics program your puppy is expected to learn basic commands and potty training skills. They will also be working on good temperament and behavior habits so your new puppy can come home with good manners. They will be trained in a home environment, and is why our training program is so successful. Weekly video updates will be shared with you of your fur baby in training. This is done for updates and to help you learn the methods used by the specific trainer and making sure you continue with the same methods, so your puppy does not get confused and has a smooth transition into their new home. A puppy cannot be fully expected to have mastered everything that is introduced to them within the 3 week training program but they will go home with a very solid foundation for you to continue building upon. What commands will my puppy learn? Sit Lay Down Come (often followed by their name) Yes (confirms correct response) No (discourages incorrect response) Shake Potty Training Your trainer will start the process of teaching your puppy to go potty outside instead of in the house or in their crate at night. Your puppy will establish a routine to help their potty training habits. You may make specific requests regarding bell training or pee pad training for your new puppy to learn.  Crate Training Your puppy will start to learn how to voluntarily go into their crate when asked and make their crate their personal safe place, as well as the place where they sleep at night and during nap time during the day. This is very important for puppy development. Leash Manners Your puppy will be introduced to walking on a leash and how to behave on walks. Name Recognition Your trainer will teach your puppy the name you have chosen for them so they will start to recognize it. Establishing Routines Your trainer will establish a daily potty training, meal time, bed time, and nap time routine. They will also get into a routine for their daily training sessions and play times. This is a very important step for puppy training success and establishing a routine is crucial for a puppy to reach their full potential and transition properly into their new home. House Manners Any kind of bad puppy behavior like nipping or jumping up for attention will be discouraged and good manners will be formed during their training.
