2 Strands Coconut Shell Disk Beads

These two strands feature larger coconut shell disk beads in a mix of natural brown and black tones. The beads are cut from coconut shell and shaped into flat, rounded disks, with subtle variations in color, texture, and thickness that highlight the natural character of the material. Coconut shell has long been used to make beads and jewelry in regions where coconuts are abundant. After the coconut is harvested, the hard outer shell can be cut into small pieces, drilled, and shaped by hand into beads. Similar techniques have traditionally been used to create thin heishi-style beads, although these examples are larger and are more accurately described as coconut shell disk beads. The process makes use of a durable natural material that might otherwise be discarded, giving the beads their distinctive organic appearance. Lightweight and versatile, these coconut shell beads are well suited for jewelry making, craft projects, or adding a natural, earthy element to necklaces, bracelets, and other handmade designs. The mix of rich brown and black tones gives each strand a warm, rustic look with natural variation from bead to bead. You are receiving 2 strands. This strand is not intended to be a ready-to-wear necklace. Although the strand can be worn "as is," the raffia holding it together is not durable and may break with use. For this reason, we recommend that you restring the beads before wearing them. Strand Length: 27 inches (includes string/raffia) Bead Size: 16-21mm diameter. 156489
