Barium Chlorate Ba(ClO₃)₂

Premium Barium Chlorate (Ba(ClO₃)₂) – The Legendary Oxidizer for Intense, Pure Green Flames in Classic Pyrotechnics Achieve competition-level emerald brilliance with high-purity Barium Chlorate – the historic powerhouse oxidizer and built-in color donor that's renowned for producing the deepest, most vivid greens in fireworks stars, comets, and effects, delivering unmatched color saturation even in lower-temperature flames. This fine, white crystalline powder (typically 99%+ pure, monohydrate or anhydrous grades) combines strong oxidizing power (~31–32% available oxygen by weight) with direct barium ion release, forming volatile BaCl species in the flame when chlorine is present — resulting in fierce-burning, high-purity greens that have defined classic pyro artistry for generations. Key Advantages: Superior green color purity — Yields intense, saturated emerald/aqua greens with exceptional brightness and depth, often outperforming nitrate-based greens in vibrancy Dual-role efficiency — Acts as both oxidizer and primary color source, reducing the need for additional barium compounds High reactivity — Supports fast, hot-burning compositions with excellent flame luminosity Fine & consistent — Excellent particle size for uniform mixing, low impurities, and reliable performance in demanding formulas Classic pyro heritage — The traditional choice for green stars before modern perchlorate dominance Perfect For: Green star compositions — Core oxidizer/color agent in brilliant emerald, deep green, aqua, and turquoise stars (cut, pumped, rolled, or comet) Aerial shells, cakes & mines — Creates standout green breaks, centers, and layered effects with unmatched intensity Fountains, gerbs & wheels — Powers dense, long-burning green sprays and drivers for ground displays Classic & vintage formulas — Recreates historical green compositions (e.g., with red gum, copper carbonate, PVC, or hexachlorobenzene) Specialty & experimental mixes — Enhances green-based strobes, glitter tails, or high-purity color effects in low-chlorine setups A precise ratio (often 40–80% in green star mixes, frequently with fuels like red gum/lactose and chlorine donors) unleashes dazzling, fierce green fire — screen-mix carefully, granulate with dextrin or alcohol/water, dry thoroughly, and watch your greens dominate the night. Critical Safety Note: Barium chlorate is a powerful oxidizer and highly sensitive/hazardous — mixtures with fuels (especially organics, sulfur, or metals) are extremely friction-, impact-, spark-, and heat-sensitive, with risk of spontaneous ignition, violent decomposition, or explosion. It is toxic (barium poisoning risk: hypokalemia, cardiac/muscular effects) and poisonous if ingested/inhaled. Handle with extreme caution: use non-sparking tools, tiny test batches only (grams, not pounds), full PPE (gloves, goggles, respirator), work in a fume hood/ventilated area, avoid chlorates with sulfur/aluminum without expert knowledge, store cool/dry/separated from combustibles/reducing agents, and strictly follow MSDS, pyro literature, and all local/national regulations (many jurisdictions restrict or heavily regulate chlorates due to sensitivity). Modern pyro strongly prefers safer alternatives like barium nitrate + perchlorate + chlorine donor — use barium chlorate only if experienced and fully aware of risks. Revive classic pyro brilliance with unmatched green intensity using Barium Chlorate — the heritage oxidizer for those who master its power and demand the purest emerald flames.
