Replaced Components The 1985-1993 Cadillac Deville is built with the following rear suspension components: 1985-1993 Cadillac Deville Air Struts (x2) - struts that contain an air bladder whose dampening capabilities is controlled by the suspension control module; they serve two purposes. These connect the wheel of a vehicle to the driving surface in order to reduce the effects of vertical travel on a rough surface which controls the bounciness, and therefore comfort, of a vehicle. They also help maintain the vehicles correct ride height, especially whenever the amount of load put onto the vehicle changes. 1985-1993 Cadillac Deville Coil Springs (x2) - what we love! Coil springs hold the vehicle up but be careful, they are rated for and designed to work with the rest of the suspension system, so when you change air shocks to passive shocks, then you will need a different rated coil spring that works well with the new type of shocks. 1985-1993 Cadillac Deville Height Sensors (x2) - a linkage located near each wheel of a vehicle with any electronic suspension that, either mechanically or electronically, constantly measures the height of the vehicle, and reports this information back to the control module so that the computer can identify if changes in height need to be adjusted accordingly. The ride height sensor is a moving part, and like all moving parts, they will eventually wear out. 1985-1993 Cadillac Deville Air Lines - tubes that run from a compressor to the air which carry pressurized air to the air struts in order to adjust the height of the vehicle, respectively. 1985-1993 Cadillac Deville Compressor Assembly - creates/sends pressurized to active suspension components. When the air suspension starts leaking, the compressor/pump starts working harder to try to keep the system inflated. By the time air suspension leaks down completely, sitting the vehicle on its tires, the compressor will either have failed or be well on its way to full failure. Buying replacement struts and taking the time to install them only to find out the compressor still needs to be replaced can be very frustrating, time-consuming, and expensive. 1985-1993 Cadillac Deville Dryer - prevents moisture build-up inside of air suspension parts. 1985-1993 Cadillac Deville Suspension Control Module - a computer which is responsible for the operations of the air suspension system and maintaining the vehicles correct ride height. 1985-1993 Cadillac Deville O-rings - Although they are the least expensive parts of the air suspension, they are responsible for maintaining the seal where all of the air lines connect. Be sure to replace the O-rings when repairing any air suspension system. Suspension Failure Signs If the 1985-1993 Cadillac Deville is unable to maintain the proper ride height then it may be suffering from a failed or leaking air suspension system. Early identification of a bad suspension is critical to avoiding total failure, so look for these classic indicators. A sudden uneven height difference between different sides of the Deville is common. The rear end typically sags while the front end remains inflated. There may also be a shifting lean from one side to the other. If not fixed promptly, these height variances will wear out the air compressor. If the air compressor stops working, suspension failure will progress. An illuminated suspension warning light on the dash will confirm the diagnosis. OEM Replacement Cost '+ SOME PARTS UNAVAILABLE! Aftermarket Replacement Cost '+ SOME PARTS UNAVAILABLE! Why StrutmastersThe assorted parts that make up the air suspension system on the 1985-1993 Cadillac Deville must always work together. When one part falls out of sync, the system is defunct. Strutmasters' air to non-air suspension conversion kit, manufactured in America, permanently eliminates this reliance. The kit includes two custom-rated coil springs and two hydraulic fluid gas-charged struts for the rear of the Deville. Say goodbye to faulty onboard compressors and level sensors for good! The kit can be installed in as little as one hour per wheel, thanks to the accompanying detailed instructions. Online installation videos and technical support from ASE certified experts are available for further assistance. Without sacrificing quality, the kit costs a fraction of the price of dealer repair and individual aftermarket part replacement. Strutmasters' coilover suspension conversion kit saves Deville owners time, frustration, and money when the air suspension system goes bad. OEM Numbers22064342, 22189459
