The Story Beginning life as the Boston Breakers, the franchise was moved to New Orleans for the 1984 season due to an unsuitable home stadium in Boston. With a fresh start and now playing home games at the Superdome (also home to the NFL's Saints), the Breakers got off to a hot 5-0 start but ultimately finished the season a disappointing 8-10. The team was moved once again ahead of the 1985 season, this time to Portland, after the league announced it was moving to a fall schedule - a move that would certainly doom a franchise in New Orleans who would have to compete with the NFL's Saints.
