Liza Minnelli (Warhol's Interview Magazine Cover/August 1972)

Liza Minnelli — Interview Magazine Cover (August 1972) August 1972: Liza Minnelli at the exact moment style, celebrity, and downtown art culture collided. Fresh off the success of Cabaret, Liza had become something bigger than a movie star—part performer, part fashion figure, part full-force personality. Captured for Interview during the magazine’s early years under Andy Warhol, the cover reflects that distinctive early-’70s aesthetic: glamorous but slightly raw, polished but still connected to the underground art world surrounding the publication. Liza’s appeal to queer audiences was already firmly in place by then—her theatricality, resilience, emotional openness, and larger-than-life stage presence turning her into an icon well beyond film and music.
