It opens with a burst of juniper and zesty bergamot, and the dry down—warm with cinnamon, cool with vetiver—makes us imagine Hemingway settling in at the bar at the Ritz Paris in 1944. Notes include Italian bergamot, juniper, black pepper, orange blossom, Florentine iris, cinnamon, vanilla, vetiver, and amber.  Histoires de Parfums, founded by Gérald Ghislain, is a French perfume house dedicated to creating an olfactive library that tells the stories of "famous characters, raw materials, and mythical years." Ghislain founded Histoires de Parfums in 2000 after completing his training at ISIPCA. 1899 was inspired by the American writer Ernest Hemingway.
