With a new introduction by John Gloag. First published in 1868, this was one of the most important books on domestic design in the 19th century. It went through many editions and republications. This unabridged Dover reprint is based on the 4th (1878) edition. Interested in a balance between function and design, Eastlake created a look of his own that has a modern feeling, but still reflects Victorian sensibilties. He covers most aspects of interior living in 19th century England, including decorations, wall coverings, furnishings, arrangements and designs of furniture. and details like picture frames, cookware, and crockery. The black and white line drawings are lovely. We want the library bookcase! Dover. 1969. Paper. USED. $9.00
