"An Autobiography." "Late Colour-Sergeant 2nd Battalion, 6th Royal Regiment." Dedicated with special permission to His Excellency The Right Honorable The Marquis of Lorne, K.T., G. D. M. G. Governor-General of the Dominion of Canada. Third edition. Includes Testimonials to the Writer, Preface, and many illustrations. Faughnan begins his autobiography with his earliest memories growing up in a small village in Ireland and seeing enlistment as a way out of poverty. With little knowledge of the world, his extensive travels start with his voyage to Liverpool. He relates various adventures he experienced while stationed in England, Ireland, Gibraltar, and during his service in the Crimean War. In his travels he saw wonders like Constantinople, the Great Pyramids, a Spanish bullfight, and Russian Cossacks.  From storms at sea to marches in heavy snow, he describes the life of the British soldier. Late Victorian embossed design on cover. A little wear with some tears on the ends of the spines. Tissue paper still protects portrait from title page.  Hunter, Rose and Company. Toronto. 1882. Hb.
