WHAT’S IN THE HOLE ???

WHAT’S IN THE HOLE ??? Some acquisitions instantly become cornerstones of a collection… this is one of them. Recovered from the legendary “Meatloaf Pocket” on August 2, 2023, at the Little Gem Mine in Jefferson County, Montana, this extraordinary specimen captures everything collectors dream about from this world-famous locality. Rich smoky quartz, vibrant amethyst, and spectacular scepter growth combine to create a crystal that feels more like a natural sculpture than a mineral specimen. The Little Gem Mine is celebrated for its complex quartz-rich pegmatites, producing multiple generations of smoky quartz and amethyst with incredible zoning, dramatic scepter formations, and exceptional aesthetics. Specimens of this caliber don’t come along often, which makes adding one to the collection even more meaningful. A huge thank you and full credit to @montanacrystalminer for the incredible discovery and the original video of this unforgettable find. Watching a piece like this come out of the earth is something every mineral collector can appreciate.
