1792 Full Proof Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey 750ml

1792 Full Proof is the high octane expression in the 1792 portfolio from Barton 1792 Distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky, established in 1879 and the oldest fully operating distillery in town. The name refers to the bourbon's bottling proof matching its original 125 barrel entry proof, the same strength at which the spirit first went into the cask years earlier. Built on Barton's signature high rye mash bill of approximately 75% corn, 15% rye, and 10% malted barley, this bourbon is aged for roughly 8.5 years in #3.5 char new American oak barrels, then deliberately skips the chill filtration Barton normally uses, passing only through a plate and frame filter to preserve maximum body, oils, and flavor compounds. The result is a bold, full bodied bourbon that drinks remarkably approachable for its strength. Named 2020 World Whiskey of the Year by Jim Murray's Whisky Bible, 1792 Full Proof is one of the most sought after annual releases in the rotating 1792 limited edition lineup. True barrel proof bourbons are bottled at whatever strength the spirit emerges from the barrel, which varies by warehouse position and evaporation. 1792 Full Proof is proofed down slightly to exactly match the 125 proof at which the spirit originally entered the barrel, which is why every batch hits the same round number. It's still one of the highest proof releases in the 1792 lineup. Why does the non chill filtration matter? Chill filtration removes fatty acids and esters that can cause cloudiness when whiskey is chilled, but those same compounds carry significant flavor and contribute to mouthfeel. By using only a plate and frame filter, Barton preserves the full body, viscous texture, and richer flavor profile that has earned this bourbon its reputation. How does Full Proof compare to other 1792 expressions? Full Proof is the highest proof in the regular 1792 lineup at 125. Compare against the Liquor On Broadway 1792 BiB Single Barrel Store Pick at 100 proof for a softer pour, or the 1792 Aged Twelve Years at 96.6 proof for the age stated benchmark of the line.
