In her introduction, Gerzina points out that this area of research is not stagnant, but is continuously expanding as new revelations appear about the long history of Black people in Britain.  In 2016, Gerzina presented the radio series 'Britain's Black Past' on Radio 4. Energized by the radio show to work on a book, Gerzina brings together voices from various backgrounds to continue the work. While new stories are brought forward, new information also adds depth to people whose histories we thought we already knew. Living history is examined as well as the past, as essays are included that discuss modern plays, television series, and genealogical sleuthing. Liverpool University Press. 2020. Paper. NEW. $42.00
