The American Revolution from the naval perspective involved 22 separate navies, was fought in 5 oceans, plus many land-locked lakes, rivers, and streams. It involved more fleet battles than any other naval war. Willis mines this rich history to bring us storms, shipwrecks, smuggling, mutinies, acts of bravery and cowardice, love stories, and narrow escapes. There's even a chapter called "Russian Meddling." There is a glossary in the back of naval terms for us landlubbers, as well as endnotes, bibliography, and index. Illustrated with a section of glossy color plates. W. W. Norton. 2015. Hb. Dj. List $35.00. NEW. $32.00
