Edited and with an Introduction by Robert Miles. A young Neopolitan nobleman's mother does not approve of the woman he loves, and asks her confessor, a former Inquisition officer, to solve the problem for her. Shedoni will stop at nothing to complete his assignment. This dark novel explores the prejudices and paranoias of Radcliffe's time when revolution and terror frightened European countries, and Miles's introduction gives and excellent background to the work.  Also includes notes, chronology, a bibiography, and contemporary reviews.
