1020 Blackout Humidity Dome

Blackout Humidity Dome for 1020 Trays Give your seedlings the proper blackout period they need with Bootstrap Farmer’s Blackout Humidity Dome. Built from extra-strength recycled plastic, these heavy-duty domes fit standard 1020 trays and plug trays, helping regulate humidity, reduce watering, and maximize germination. Perfect for seed starting and microgreens, the blackout design blocks light to create ideal conditions during early growth stages. When and Why to Use a Blackout Dome Not all microgreens require a blackout period, but many benefit from it. Crops like basil, peas, sunflower shoots, popcorn shoots, and arugula perform especially well when given time in darkness. Encourages stem elongation for better harvest height Produces sweeter flavor and crisp texture in some crops Typical blackout times range from 2–3 days (fast growers like arugula) to 4–5 days (slower crops like basil) Can be used creatively to produce unique flavors and colors, such as yellow corn shoots or brightly colored amaranth ⚠️ Precaution: Blackout conditions raise humidity levels, which may increase the risk of mold. Use domes with adjustable vents or prop a corner slightly for oxygen exchange while keeping out light.
