100% Chicos (Boys Should Be Boys)

Drawing on her experience as both a pediatrician and a mother, Meg Meeker offers the fundamental insights that every parent should know regarding the upbringing of their children. In the face of a contemporary environment that tends to erase distinctions, the author reminds us that boys will always be boys—and that, consequently, they require an essentially different kind of upbringing. To this end, Dr. Meeker delves into fundamental topics concerning the raising of boys, including: Why rules and boundaries are essential, and why boys feel lost without them. Why it is far more beneficial for a boy to play outdoors than to spend hours playing video games. How to preserve their innocence in an environment that seeks to do just the opposite. Why it is not normal for a boy to be sullen or rebellious, and how to address such behaviors. How and when to tackle the major life questions that every child eventually asks themselves. All parents want what is best for their children. However, that alone does not seem to be enough. Raising children is a monumental task—one for which we must be prepared. Without a doubt, this book offers a wealth of advice that helps make that task just a little bit easier.
