"Io Soaring" Print - Scott Gorrell

"Io Soaring" - Print by Scott Gorrell  Archival Cannon Lucia pigmented inks on acid-free fine art paper print  Print height: 16" Print width: 20" The 'io, or Hawaiian hawk, is the only hawk endemic to the Hawaiian Islands.  Once present on Kaua'i, O'ahu, Moloka'i and the Big Island, with human encroachment its numbers were reduced to a few hundred on the Big Island.  Wich conservation efforts, 'io numbers have increased to almost three thousand, and they are starting to be seen on other islands, as well.  An auspicious return for this 'aumakua to Hawaiian Royalty.   Scott's paper sculptures feature layers of intricately cut and pressed archival paper to achieve a stunning three-dimensional effect.    Scott Gorrell makes his home in Pa'auilo on the Big Island.  Please look for more of Scott's artwork at scottgorrell.com, on Facebook at Scott Gorrell Fine & Commercial Art, and Instagram at scottgorrellart.
