What’s Inside the Kit At the heart of this set is Black Tucano Honey Roasted Coffee, 250g-an origin-true, craft-roasted lot designed to celebrate sweetness and structure. While “honey roasted” refers to the process rather than added flavor, the cup really does evoke natural honeyed tones thanks to careful brewing and precise roasting. It’s versatile, clear, and expressive, inviting you to explore different methods and grind settings until your ideal cup emerges. 1 × 250g bag Black Tucano Honey Roasted Coffee (Yellow Caturra, Brazil) Profile highlights: cane molasses, honey, and raspberry; velvety body; medium, rounded acidity Origin, Craft, and Process This lot comes from Sítio Alto Santa Joana, where producer Waldir Manske cultivates Yellow Caturra at 1,100 meters. The elevation and variety choice set the stage for clarity and sweetness, while the Honey (pulped natural) process adds plush texture and depth. In this method, the skin is removed but the sticky mucilage-the “honey”-remains on the bean during drying, amplifying sugars and aromatics without overwhelming the cup. The result is a harmonized expression of and craft: a confident Arabica with layered sweetness, lifted fruit, and poised acidity. Roasted by Black Tucano Coffee Roasters with sensitivity to varietal character, this specialty coffee shows its best self across multiple brew styles. Aroma & Flavor: Velvety, Honeyed, and Bright From the first inhale, the fragrance leans warm and inviting: think cane molasses and a drizzle of wildflower honey. On the palate, a velvety body carries these sweet tones seamlessly, supported by medium and rounded acidity that feels plush rather than sharp. As the cup cools, a gentle note of raspberry emerges, adding lift and a clean, fruit-forward finish. The sweetness is natural and persistent, never cloying-just the kind that rewards a slow sip and a thoughtful brew. If you gravitate toward balanced, dessert-like coffee with a refined edge, this profile will feel tailor-made. Brew It Your Way Whether you prefer pour-over clarity or syrupy espresso, this lot is ready to shine. Use fresh, filtered water and adjust grind to dial in sweetness and flow. Pour-Over (V60/Chemex): Start at 1:15 (20g coffee to 300g water) at 200°F (93°C). Aim for a medium-fine grind. Bloom 30–45 seconds, then pour in smooth concentric pulses to finish around 2:45–3:15. Expect high clarity, honeyed sweetness, and a lifted raspberry finish. Espresso: Try 18g in, 36–40g out in 27–32 seconds. The shot should land silky and sweet, with cane molasses depth and a rounded acidity that holds beautifully in milk. Adjust grind finer if you need more structure, coarser if shots run long. French Press: 1:14, coarse grind, 4 minutes steep. Stir gently at the start and settle the crust before plunging. You’ll get a plush, velvety cup with amplified body and a soft, honeyed finish. Pro tip: This single-origin responds well to minor grind tweaks. If raspberry feels shy, go a touch finer; if the cup tightens, ease coarser to unlock sweetness. Sustainability, Traceability, and Care Responsibly grown and carefully processed, this lot reflects a commitment to quality at the farm level and in the roastery. The Honey method is known for using less water than traditional washed processing, and it preserves sugars that translate into natural sweetness in the cup. Transparent sourcing connects you straight to Sítio Alto Santa Joana and producer Waldir Manske, turning each brew into a conversation with place. Expect consistent, traceable quality from a microlot that honors environmental mindfulness and craft-led agriculture.
