Benefits of Using a Digger’s Gopher Basket Protecting your plants from the destructive habits of underground pests, such as gophers, is essential for maintaining a healthy and thriving garden or landscape. Digger’s Root Guard gopher baskets offer a reliable and effective solution to this persistent problem, providing numerous benefits that safeguard your investment in plants and landscaping. Superior Protection Against Gophers Digger’s is the Home of the Original Gopher Wire Basket. The Heavy Duty line of gopher wire baskets are specifically designed to create a barrier that prevents gophers from accessing the root ball of your plants. Constructed from strong, double galvanized steel wire, these baskets are resistant to the tunneling efforts of gophers. By enclosing the root ball of plants in a protective plant basket, these baskets inhibit the gopher’s ability to damage or destroy your plants. Durability and Longevity The Heavy Duty gopher wire baskets are made from double galvanized steel. The 20-gauge steel wire is electro-plate galvanized, woven in the hexagonal pattern, and then hot dipped galvanized. Galvanized steel resists rust and corrosion, even when exposed to moisture and soil over extended periods. This durability ensures that the baskets remain effective season after season, providing long-term protection for trees, shrubs, and other valuable plants. Digger’s Heavy Duty baskets can also be removed from the soil at the end of the season and reused the following year. This is great for planting bulbs. Maintenance-Free Pest Control Once installed, gopher wire baskets require no ongoing maintenance or intervention. Unlike traps, poisons, or other pest control methods that need frequent attention and replenishment, wire baskets provide a passive and continuous solution. This hands-off approach saves time and effort while maintaining peace of mind. Environmentally Friendly Solution Using gopher wire baskets is an eco-friendly pest control method that avoids the use of harmful chemicals or poisons. This approach protects the surrounding environment, including beneficial soil organisms, pets, and other wildlife, while keeping gophers at bay. Using a gopher cage also eliminates the need to kill the gophers. Gopher baskets are the only non-kill prevention method to protect your garden and landscape. Gardeners can enjoy a pest-free landscape without compromising ecological balance. Versatility and Customization Heavy-duty gopher wire baskets are available in various sizes to accommodate different plant types, from small perennials to large trees. This versatility makes them suitable for a wide range of applications, whether you're planting a vegetable garden, installing ornamental shrubs, or establishing a fruit orchard. The baskets can also be used in a variety of other ways in a garden or landscape. The most common secondary use is flipping the basket over and using it as a cloche for above ground predation.
