Precision ground from one solid piece of heat-treated, heavy duty carbon steel, these bits can drill flat bottomed holes without splintering and are ideal for making holes in plywood and MDF board. This drill bit can create the pocket and grommet holes, countersinking screws, and drilling out knots in the wood. It features a sharp center spur that accurately locates the center of the hole.  The double cavity efficiently removed chips, debris, plugs and reduces heat. Forstner Bits are an important tool for many hardware installations where a specific depth of the hole is required. The Forstner bit is guided by the wide outside rim of the bit whereas the drill bits are guided by the tip. These bits are the perfect choice to produce flat bottomed holes. It can drill a flat-bottomed hole, making them a necessary tool for many hardware installations where a precise depth of mortise is required. They are optimized for woodworking applications and cut exceptionally precise, clean-edged holes in wood.  Quantity: 1 piece Dimensions Overall Length – 3-1/2” Cutting Head Diameter – 1-3/8” Shank Diameter – 3/8” straight round  Machines Used On: Drill press and electrically powered rotary drills  Application: Wood Plywood and MDF board Safety Tips/techniques: We suggest using a drill press as opposed to a drill with our forstner bits.  A drill can be tricky to ensure straight drilled holes.  When using a handheld drill, invest in a jig to ensure your holes are straight Always wear proper PPE to include (but not limited to) safety glasses, hearing protection, respirator, and hand protection.  Keep all guards in place on your machine.
