The long shank is the whole point and it is also the thing to respect: a 6" burr flexes, so Walter halves the speed rating and sets a hard floor. Never run a 6" carbide burr below 20,000 RPM, and keep the feed light and steady — let the flutes cut rather than pushing the shank into a bow.
